The godfather

You gotta take it apart and ut it back together again

On the 28th, we went to meet the godfather of Mercedes owners in Sri Lanka. Patron saint is more like it but godfather sounds cooler. This stately gentlemen used to import a great deal of Mercedes Benz spare parts (both brand new and used). He is now in semi-retirement but still has a bit of parts lying around in an almost abandoned warehouse.

We went to his store with him and managed to find four doors in excellent condition to replace the ones on our W123. That’s not all, we found a radiator and a boot lid as well. Attached to the radiator is an oil cooler. I didn’t even know that such a thing existed. Apparently an oil cooler was installed in many W123 diesels but somewhere along the line, when the owners did various repairs the oil coolers had been left out. As a result, there are only a few cars on the road today that can boast of a working oil cooler.
